Global MBA Testimonials
The process of creating value through work-integrated learning is extraordinary. It shifts the primary learning experience from the confines of academic institutions to the actual workplaces of our students. This transformation leads to an unparalleled sense of purpose, as it transitions skills training from theoretical teaching to the invaluable experience gained on the job.
Additionally, work-integration redirects the traditional focus of study from analysis to practical implementation. It is the act of implementation that has the power to bring about real change in the world. This new approach enables students to realize their potential in effecting positive changes within their work environments.
We invite you to explore the remarkable feedback from some of our students who have been willing to openly share their experiences of creating genuine value in their workplaces.

The course supply chain management has forced me to consider how our supply chain is managed, as is the main way in which the company generates its revenue as well as to fulfil its mandate of making fish accessible to the community. It has allowed me to evaluate the inventory turnover and cash conversion cycle, which were two technical terms that I have learn and clearly applicable to the company in its inventory management. I am now able to ask the Operations Manager relevant questions when it comes to the stock management. It will also assist me in concluding harvesting agreements which will benefit the company both in terms of fish supply and diversification of fish products. Lastly, the course has added to my belief that the current manager of operations lacks the necessary academic knowledge and the skills to effectively manage stock, thus require formal training or replacement altogether. I will therefore see to it that supply chain received the necessary attention and support to make it more organized than it is at the moment. |

Through the implementation of this assignment, my perspective of the MBA course as a whole has completely changed from me simply gaining knowledge of theoretical tools, practices and technics to something which I have immersed myself into completely to the point wh ere is it is changing me on personal level. Theoretically I do not think I learnt anything from this assignment, however personally I feel that this assignment has helped me to grow tremendously and has made me a better manager and person. |

This course has been valuable by introducing my company to Activity Based Management financial analysis. With this course, we have set realistic daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly sales targets and ensure that for every unit we sell, we achieve our desired benchmark (TARI) of R0.79 per unit. Before we were introduced to TARI, financial statements caught all of us by surprise at the end of reporting periods. Now, after having studied this course, we find assurance in attaining our target gross profit. No surprises anymore. |

This assignment certainly was one of the more difficult ones for me. Difficulty in getting information, and once I received it, had to understand it, as at times it was really Greek. But once again I learned things about my organisation that I did not know before. The same way with Finance and all the other very technical topics, it now allows me to have a seat at the table and participate or at least understand, versus before, where I did not really even pay attention when topics came up that I was not familiar with. |

This course has helped me look at our company’s marketing efforts in a different way. The current situation is that communications efforts are fragmented and discorded. Efforts will be made to recommend more coordinated efforts. This course has given me an opportunity to reflect on my own personal communication competencies and identify areas that I need to improve on. With this in mind I have generated valuable lessons from some of the best practices that I can immediately implement at my workplace with a lot of potential to improve on. |

DMAIC has allowed me to delve deeper into the art of problem solving and optimising existing processes at my workplace. The tendency has been to try and solve problems as they arise however, this only results solving surface problems rather than addressing the root cause of the problem. Instead of constantly fire-fighting the application of six sigma in my assignment has allowed me to take a holistic approach to designing and implementing transformation processes. |

Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed undertaking this assignment as it taught me a lot about my own personal management style and gave me pointers as to where I could personally improve and develop my skills, unfortunately I do not think that it is suitable for my current employer, this is primarily due to the fact that the organization has no vision or objectives. Personally, I will take these lessons to heart and hopefully will have a chance to implement these within my next organisation. |

| I was fortunate that this assignment was due whilst I was busy in the middle of a larger project. Hence, writing this assignment became a part of the project that I was anyway working for, so it was very timely. |

Seems like we forgot Germany/UK, obviously I did not make enough of an impression, I shall try to do better next time. All jokes aside, I was truly honored to have met Prof Jannie and my future business partners. I had an amazing time, full of fun and laughter, we also learnt some stuff about Human Resource Management in between the jokes. Prof Jannie is a very inspirational leader and mentor. He has a very effective teaching style by which he is able to simplify a very complex topic and make it relative not just to our careers but also to our personal lives. I feel truly blessed to have met him and look forward with anticipation to returning home and implementing these life lessons and improving myself not just as a manager but also as a father. Thank you for everything. Leon |

The HRM residential was an eye-opener, the way Prof Jannie delivered the theory coupled with the videos helped me understand and remember things easily. Thank you Prof Jannie for taking us on an insightful, informative and very practical course. I have learnt lessons to guide me not only in my professional but to improve my personal life as well. From Leadership with possibility, driven by ROWE, realising the importance of the first followers and self-management (leadership starts with self-motivation). To the team: it was a pleasure meeting all of you. Thank you for being such an inspiring and dedicated team. Till we meet again in Germany!! |

For the better part of 15 years I’ve been in a management role. Working on this assignment, I noticed to my regret that we tend to neglect our greatest resources: the people that we work with or for. This course shifted my management priorities back to the importance of constant management development. The value I’m taking away is inclusivity, mentoring, empowerment and team building. With my management and future projects this is the change I want to see and implement the most. |

This assignment has highlighted for me the need to develop sound management skills. I have realised that for me to be effective as a manager, I have to be able to drive the team towards set goals and objectives as required by the company. I also realised that it is just not a matter of managing through instruction, but I get more output from my team if I learn to get their trust and I also empower them to reach heights that they are capable of, keeping sight of the overall strategic objectives that need to be achieved. |

I found the reading material to be insightful, easy reading and practical. I was encouraged to see that we are closely aligned to the recommended recruitment, selection and placement components which probably explains why we have been surveyed in the top three best companies to work for. It also explains why our annual culture survey results are generally good with no major areas of concern or high entropy levels. Should we address the identified shortcomings then I would anticipate that our staff turnover levels would decrease. |

I initially struggled with determining our supply chain as I had also associated supply chains and supply chain management with manufacturing. It was eye opening to discover that servicing industries also have supply chains that if managed as actively as manufacturing companies can generate significant savings and better service delivery. These benefits can then be cascaded to the customer via lower or stable pricing or enhanced benefits. |
